For people who have had to survive the unimaginable
Trauma can shrink your world, narrow what feels possible, distort your sense of self and leave your nervous system stuck on high alert or in total shutdown. It can make everyday life feel exhausting, relationships confusing and your own reactions hard to understand.
Choice
We agree the approaches together. You can ask questions, decline an approach or pause the work.
Pace
We make space for what feels manageable and return to grounding or reflection when you need it.
Connection
We consider your relationships, circumstances and support alongside what is happening inside you.
In our work together, we slow things down and honour the parts of you that kept you going, even when things felt overwhelming or far from how you wanted life to be. We also pay gentle attention to the coping mechanisms you’ve developed along the way – even the ones you may not like – as signs of your determination to survive, your wish to thrive and your capacity to move forward.
From there, we get curious about what settles your nervous system, brings a little more ease to your thoughts and feels like a safer place to be. In that space, we start to uncover who you are beyond the impact of what happened, and we work – piece by piece – to rebuild a steadier sense of self, stronger self-awareness and a life that feels more in tune with the person you’re becoming.
Trauma Therapy Within Applied Therapeutic Practice™
Trauma can affect your Inner World, Everyday Life and Wider World. My working model helps us consider all three: how experiences live in you now, where their impact shows up in daily life, and what circumstances or support may help.
We may use therapeutic exploration, psychoeducation, grounding and personalised resources to understand a pattern and make it visible. When it feels appropriate, we can practise a conversation or boundary, agree a manageable behavioural experiment, or explore practical support and signposting. We then reflect on what happened outside therapy and what you need next.
Understand, Make it Visible, Practise, Connect and Build are flexible stages, guided by your needs, consent and pace. There is no pressure to revisit experiences before you are ready or to turn trauma into a story of growth. This is therapy, not life coaching or case management.
